SVDP Community Pharmacy Partners with Fellowship Health Clinic to serve the Hattiesburg Area
The St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy is proud to be serving the Hattiesburg Area in parnership with the Fellowship Health Clinc located at 1919 Edwards St. In October 2014, a group of medical, business, faith and community leaders gathered to discuss the possibility of opening a free health clinic in Hattiesburg. Many members of the group had been part of previous dialogues by different groups interested in offering free dental, pharmaceutical and medical services to people in the Hattiesburg area who fall in the healthcare gap. These concerned leaders were committed to finding the means of connecting volunteer medical and lay people with the medically underserved-- uninsured and underinsured adults.
Long-standing local priest Fr. Tommy Conway realized the SVDP Community Pharmacy could fill the role of providing prescripiont medication to qualifing participants. The Hattiesburg Extension Site was the first phase of the clinic to open in February 2015. In 2015, the Pharmacy filled 579 prescriptions. Since the opening of the Fellowship Clinic in January 2016 the Pharmacy has now filled over 600 for the year.
The SVDP Community Pharmacy is proud to partner with the Fellowship Health Clinic, and we look forward to growing our program in the northern portion of our service territory.
